Donovan started Kindergarten this year, and along with it, came the need for me to put on my mommy boots, and start making school lunches. I was both excited and terrified of the idea of lunches, so naturally, I turned to pintrest! I searched for as many “lunch ideas” as I could, and then compiled all the pictures in an on-line album with snapfish – and THEN I had that album printed into a small flip style photobook.
I’m so glad I made the photobook! I try to give Donovan to the book two or three nights a week while I’m making supper, ask him to look through the pictures, and let me know what he’d like for lunch tomorrow. That way if he picks something that I need to pre-make, I can do it while I’m making supper, and not rush around to do it in the morning. The other days, I flip through the book myself to get ideas to make his lunch in the morning. Honestly, it really has taken the “Oh my word, what am I going to make TODAY!” out of the equation.
Of course the best part (for me anyway) is that Donovan comes home with an empty lunch box!
I’ve started taking pictures of what he’s been eating, so next years book can have more ideas!
What have you done to help make school lunches easier?
PS. Feel free to steal the pictures of Donovan’s lunches or from my album to make a “what’s for lunch” book of your own!!
