It's been a crazy fall around these parts, and I can't believe that once AGAIN it's been so long since I've blogged! Let's give you a little update: Donovan started Kindergarten in September, and he is LOVING it, he is doing so well in his class, and is excited to come home and tell me all about what he's learned. My favourite day so far was when he came home the day he learned all about owls, I was told A LOT of info about owls that day. As we get closer to Christmas, he is … [Read more...]
on lunches – and finally feeling like a “real mom”
Donovan started Kindergarten this year, and along with it, came the need for me to put on my mommy boots, and start making school lunches. I was both excited and terrified of the idea of lunches, so naturally, I turned to pintrest! I searched for as many "lunch ideas" as I could, and then compiled all the pictures in an on-line album with snapfish - and THEN I had that album printed into a small flip style photobook. I'm so glad I made the photobook! I try to give Donovan to the book two or … [Read more...]
Pasta Time
Since starting my "from scratch" series, I have become addicted with making as many things at home as I can. My pintrest addiction interest has certainly helped with my making things at home, I especially love searching the Life Made Delicious recipes. I haven't bought a loaf of bread since March (which reminds me, I need to go make another batch this week!), I made Donovan birthday cupcakes last night, and I made Pasta last week! That's right pasta! After reading a post a couple of months … [Read more...]
from scratch
Since starting the "from scratch" series I've really enjoyed the motivation it's given me to keep making more and more things from scratch at home. I think my family has enjoyed the fresh food too! I haven't bought a loaf of bread in over a month (almost two I think!) and I even bought some fresh whole wheat flour at the farmers market last week to make my bread with. I canned my own cherry tomatoes a few weeks ago, and then make from scratch tomato soup from those same tomatoes. I also … [Read more...]
from scratch, baking bread
I published my first "from scratch" post with little thought, other than wanting to share something I was passionate about. Almost immediately I got a huge (for the size of this little blog) response in comments, tweets, emails and Facebook messages, asking for more details, or more posts or both! For the record, I've had at least three different people tell me they've tried the bagels, and they loved them! If you do decide to try out one of the recipes I post, I'd love to hear from … [Read more...]
from scratch: breakfast sandwich
About a year ago I started making breakfast (just about) every morning for Donovan, Jamie and myself. Around that same time I received the greatest "egg pan" for Christmas from my mother-in-law. We eat eggs at good 3 to 4 days a week, and this pan is probably used at least half of those times, it's probably the most used pan in my kitchen! Most mornings I just cook the eggs in this pan, and serve with toast on the side, but last week I got a little more creative. One of the things I love … [Read more...]
