I'd call it a "fish tank" but we all know there is more money then fish in that damn tank. So the "tank of death" AKA Donovan's long awaited money fish tank got some upgrades this weekend. After all original fish (with the exception of "Gold" the yellow guppie, who always looks to be on the verge of death, but always bounces back in the next day) had died, on Monday I decided that MAYBE there was something more that could be done in hopes that our fish outlive their "14 day guarantee" - a … [Read more...]
Oh Hey! *Waves*
It's been a crazy fall around these parts, and I can't believe that once AGAIN it's been so long since I've blogged! Let's give you a little update: Donovan started Kindergarten in September, and he is LOVING it, he is doing so well in his class, and is excited to come home and tell me all about what he's learned. My favourite day so far was when he came home the day he learned all about owls, I was told A LOT of info about owls that day. As we get closer to Christmas, he is … [Read more...]
on lunches – and finally feeling like a “real mom”
Donovan started Kindergarten this year, and along with it, came the need for me to put on my mommy boots, and start making school lunches. I was both excited and terrified of the idea of lunches, so naturally, I turned to pintrest! I searched for as many "lunch ideas" as I could, and then compiled all the pictures in an on-line album with snapfish - and THEN I had that album printed into a small flip style photobook. I'm so glad I made the photobook! I try to give Donovan to the book two or … [Read more...]
like riding a….
It's been at least 10 years since I last rode a bike. Probably longer if I really sit down and do the math. I rode bikes a lot growing up, but in highschool when I injured my knee, bike riding was something that I wasn't easily able to do. I still stayed active, switching to running (also hurt) and rollerblading, and ultimately walking. In university I switched to yoga, something that I still enjoy doing, although not as regularly as I should, I will be the first to admit! This past weekend, … [Read more...]

There is a video tucked away somewhere deep in my parent's basement. It would take some doing to find it, and then even more time to find a VCR that would allow us to watch it, but I know it's still there. Without even finding the tape, I know exactly what's on it. My dad is a Trap Shooter and for years would always re-load his own bullets in our basement at home. This meant that we probably had a lot more LARGE barrels in our home that the average family (who probably had none). When the … [Read more...]
where is the parenting manual?
I spent this past week being a "single parent" while Jamie was away in PEI/NB. I spent this past week reminding myself how amazing women and men who single parent full (or part) time are! And I spent this past week wondering where the parenting manual was??? Parenting is hard. I'm not really sure that it ever gets easier, just ask my mom and dad! That's not to say that Donovan and I didn't have a great week, because we certainly did all we could to make the most of our "Mommy/Donovan" … [Read more...]
